I love hanging out in NYC, there are so many awesome people, cool things to see, and interesting things to do. One of my absolute favorite parts of NYC is Greenwich Village, or just The Village as the cool kids call it. Today I thought I would share a few of my favorite things to do on your perfect day in Greenwich village, starting with brunch/lunch, a walk in the park, some shopping, and a nice dinner + dessert.
Brunch/Lunch:
- Summer’s Juice and Coffee (169 Thompson Street) - This is an amazing little cafe/restaurant for a nice sit-down brunch. I highly recommend their juice, avocado toast, or breakfast burrito.
- Bleecker Street Pizza (69 7th Ave) - If you're looking for a quick bite or just in the mood for a slice of classic New York style pizza, this is should be your go-to. This tiny pizza joint has maybe 5 chairs, but has some of the best pizza ever.
- Pomme Frites (128 Macdougal Street) - This literal hole-in-the-wall french fry shop is the perfect place to stop in for a quick snack. I don't love poutine, but their plain fries are delicious and everyone who did try the poutine said it was excellent.
Park:
- Washington Square Park - After your delicious lunch, take a walk through Washington Square Park, it's beautiful. There are also tons of street performers to watch which is tons of fun. One time a magician had us pick a card out a deck and then cut open a kiwi and it was inside the kiwi. Mind = blown.
Shop:
- Greenwich Village is filled with tons of cools shops + boutiques. There are tons of specialty music shops (Generation Records - 210 Thompson Street), flea markets (The Market NYC - 290 Mulberry Street), skin care shops (The Mask Bar - 259 Bleecker Street), and bookstores (Bookbook - 266 Bleecker Street)
Dinner:
- Lupa Osteria Romana (170 Thompson Street) - I love good Italian food and this restaurant did not disappoint. Pro-tip: try all the pastas (haha).
- La Panineria (1 W 8th Street) - If you’re feeling something a little less formal, try La Panineria. They have great paninis (obviously) and a fun atmosphere.
- Nix (72 University Place) - Greenwich Village is filled with tons of vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free/special diet restaurants. This one is completely vegetarian with tons of gluten free options.
Dessert:
- Molly’s Cupcakes (228 Bleecker Street) - This is honestly the best cupcake shop/bakery I have ever been to. Not only do they serve amazing cupcakes (cookie dough, oreo, red velvet, cookie monster, peach cobbler, etc.), you can create your own flavors, have amazing chocolate covered oreos, and add your own sprinkles and toppings to hot chocolate. Plus the bar has swings as seats, so... like.... meet you there in an hour?
Greenwich Village is honestly one of my favorite places to go in New York City. It has such a cool uptown meets downtown vibe and if you have the time I completely recommend spending a day around there! Share anything else you recommend doing down below and I’ll be sure to check them out!
XOXO,
Samantha
