3 Books I've Read Recently

Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult - Have we realized that I'm a sucker for books that make you sob? Jodi Picoult is a goddess when it comes to these types of books; this one had me crying all the way through. Willow, a smart and funny five year old, was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a bone disorder causing her to suffer thousands of broken bones. As Willow lives in pain and bills begin piling up, her mother begins to wonder "what if she had known about Willow's condition before she was born?". The chapters are told through rotating points of view, but each is written directly to Willow. This book is powerful, emotional, and extremely well written with an end I did not even little bit see coming. I definitely recommend this book if you're looking for something that will make you cry

Things We Have In Common by Tasha Kavanagh - Woah, this book really freaked me out. Like, I tried reading it, had to stop, and then started again a month or two later. I still don't know how I feel about this book, and I finished it a while ago. When Yamsin, a social outcast, catches a man watching a fellow classmate, she becomes convinced he is there to take her and creates an elaborate plan to save Alice. Written from Yasmin's point of view to the potential kidnapper, this novel had a serious creep factor, but was provocative and insightful nonetheless. And the ending? Holy **** the ending, I legitimately do not know what to say.

Visitation Street by Ivy Pochada - This book tells the story of Val and June, two teens who take a raft out on the bay ready for an adventure, but only Val returns, semi-conscious and washed up on the shore. June's disappearance and Val's return touch a diverse cast of Visitation Street and Red Hook Residents as everyone from a Juilliard drop-out to a Lebanese bodega owner are deeply affected. This mystery kept me hooked all the way until the end and either I suck at predicting things or I just always happen to pick up books with crazy, twist endings.

Ok, so these are a few books I've read recently (but I don't have a ton of time to read, so recently is relative)! As for what I'm reading now, I just started The Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory as recommended by my aunt at What's Inside That Nut, and I'm loving it! Let me know if you guys have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them!

XOXO,

Samantha
